Summer "Salad" Popular with non-Americans

This is similar to "Ambrosia Fruit Salad" but has fewer ingredients & faster to make. It's called "Summer Salad" but it's more of a dessert. Source: Price Chopper Stores ( A Charity Higgins Johnson)

1 (12 oz) large container of frozen whipped topping (Cool Whip)
1 lb cottage cheese
1 small package of flavored gelatin (like “Jello”), any flavor
1 medium can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, drained, OR other fruit (fruit cocktail, manadarin oranges) [If desired, 1 c miniature marshmallows,]

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
Savory-looking when served in clear glass bowl.
(Modifications to taste: add shredded coconuts or nuts as you wish)
