½ c vegetable oil, butter or margarine
½ c honey or maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
2 c rolled oats (quick or old-fashioned)
2 c ready-to-serve whole wheat cereal flakes
1 c sunflower seeds
¾ c sesame seeds
1 c raisins
½ c chopped walnuts
½ c flaked coconut (optional)
~Heat oil (or butter), honey (syrup), and vanilla together in a large sauce pan or Dutch oven. ~Remove.
~Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
~Spread in ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan
~Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes (till golden).
~Cool and remove from pan.
Yield: about 8 cups.
I made this only once before we moved to Africa for a few years. I keep meaning to make it again, but the decades drift on and I've not made it.
So, I haven’t made this since the 1970s…who knows, it might be a ‘real trip, man.’
